The surface of the Jupiter-sized L-dwarf star, W1906+40, is blemished by a storm raging near its north pole. At 3500° F, the star is relatively cool compared to most stars; cold enough to have coherent clouds. NASA’s Spitzer and Kepler Space Telescopes made the detection.
